2008 Atlanta Tornado
March 14, 2008

On Friday, March 14th at about 9:40 pm, Atlanta had a direct hit by a F2 tornado.  Our condo home was spared major damage from the tornado.  My office at the 34 Peachtree Building had about five windows blown out.  Two of them were on our 22nd floor.  Fortunately, these two did not belong to my company.  The increased air pressure from the broken windows blew dust from the ceiling tiles onto our desks.  Other than this inconvenience, there was no major damage to our offices.

Our sister office buildings of Sun Trust Tower and the Equitable Building had major damage.  The downtown looked like a battle scene with broken glass and building debris in the streets and sidewalks.  The CNN Center, the World Congress Center and Centennial Park had major damage.

Our Condo Building had about 4 windows out.  None were on our floor and our condo unit had no damage.

Pamela and I were not downtown when the tornado went through.  I understand from the neighbors that it was quite an experience.  All reported that they knew something was wrong when they saw debris flying through the air.  All were smart enough to seek the most interior portion of the building.  One neighbor had their windows blown out.  Her condo was a wreck.  Dirt and glass was everywhere.

Pictures of downtown and our building can be found at:  http://normer.com/2008/2008atlantatornado/index.htm
