ATLANTA -- June 3 is National Running Day which, according to the website maintained by several organizations including Running USA, is the day to "come together as a nation to take strides toward leading healthier, fitter lives". One Georgia man is celebrating the day by running to work.
Normer Adams from Fayette County usually drives to work, but on Wednesday, he decided to run in.
Adams's commute is 23.6 miles.
"I've driven this many times in the car," Adams said, "but running it is a different experience."
On his run, a deer ran with Adams for a brief time, which he said was exhilarating.
11Alive photojournalist Jojo Johnson asked Adams if he was going to run home as well.
"I'm going to give my wife a call and say, 'come get me.'"
Adams, 60, has run 27 marathons and hopes to qualify for the Boston Marathon in 2009. It would be his fourth time running in that event.
